Who are we?

Protner Joannes wines are on the very top in Slovenia. Long tradition and hard work made Protner’s wine famous and recognisable all over the world.

Protner’s cellar starts with a room full of large oval oak barrels their wines mature for at least six months. The next room has stainless steel tanks where a quality wine is stored before offering it on the market. The integral part of the cellar is also Bottle Cellar where wine matures in bottles at a constant temperature.
The cellar has also an older, more than 200 years old, part where Protner keeps the best wine from their own vineyards.

The last part of the cellar is a wine shop where visitors can choose wines that are grown on the Šempeter hills just above Malečnik and around the owners house in Vodole. Protner Joannes has 12 hectares of vineyards of which 3 hectares are located on the steep south side of Šempeter Hills.

On the vineyards, which are between two and fourty years old, produce Zeleni Silvanec – Silvaner – summer wine, Renski Riesling,which are on the market 2009, 2010 and 2013, aromatic Yellow muscat, full bodyed Chardonnay, grass-like aromatic Sauvignon, light rose – Pinot Gris and jam aromatic Pinot Noir. In new wineyard are Šipon – Furmint and Pinot blanc.

Protner Joannes also features a superb winery which was opened in 1996. The winery has offers large spaces where about 50 people can be accommodated. In addition to selected varieties of dry, semi-dry and semi-sweet wine, sparkling wine, sophisticated red wine, Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir rosé wine they will also serve their guests with homemade specialties.
