Excitingly fruity. Elegant after 1 year.
Accent on varietal character, presence of aromas of ripe cherries, redcurrant, ripe elderberries, fresh, slightly smoky notes present, on the palate rich minerality. Medium bodied.
The wine is drinkable now but also suitable for aging 2 – 3 years.
The wine of young , new, estate vineyard and partner farm. Well matured grapes. The wine represents a cut of grapes from different positions of Vipava valley.
Before maceration a part of the must is taken away to concentrate the tannins and colour. Two days of cold maceration is followed by 7 days of skin contact fermentation. The wine is aged for 4 months. Controlled malolactic fermentation and 3 months of active batonaging and micro oxidation.
FOOD AND WINE: Recommended to cheese, all kinds of white meat, grilled fish, lightly seasoned risottos. Suitable also for drinking without food in diverse gatherings.
WEATHER CHARACTERISTICS OF VINTAGES: Early budding, which was halted by an extremely rainy and cold May. Hot June tried to make up for the backlog, which was re-created by the rainy and cold beginning of July. The optimum summer with just the right amount of daylight follows, ending with an extremely windy and arid month of August. A classic vintage with fluctuating weather, unpredictable all the way. The harvest begins in late August.
